MLOps Meetup Feb 2025 (Two Talks!)
Tonight we’ll be hearing from:
Lloyd Hamilton on “The Model Context Protocol and its importance in Agentic AI”. From Lloyd:
"Agentic artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to be one of the biggest AI trends for 2025. Thanks to the huge amount of investment by tech corporations, consumers are presented with more capable models with ever increasing contextual window at lower costs.
In 2025, we will start to see more advance use cases for AI, beyond compound AI systems like retrieval augmented systems (RAG). This is driven by the growing usage of tools that augments the utility of AI agents.
One of the fastest growing frameworks for Agentic tooling is the Model Context Protocol by Anthropic. The Model Context Protocol is an open-source standard that standardises how we interact with LLM tools. This talk will discuss the Model Context Protocol and its implication in changing how we build agentic tools for LLM workflows."
Leroy Lawrence B on "Behind the Scenes of ML at Skyscanner: An Overview on tools, infrastructure, and deployment". From Leroy:
Machine Learning at Skyscanner powers key decision-making processes, from Personalized Recommendations to Operational Efficiency. But what does it take to move a model from development to production at scale?
This talk provides a high-level overview of the ML infrastructure at Skyscanner, covering essential components such as Databricks Unity Catalog, Feature Store, Model Serving, Databricks Asset Bundles, and more.
Attendees will gain insights into how these tools streamline Model Lifecycle Management, ensuring robustness, scalability, and efficiency in real-world deployments.
Whether you're an ML Engineer, Data Scientist, or AI enthusiast, this session will offer valuable takeaways on building production-ready ML systems.
🍺 Beer and 🍕 Pizzas this evening come from our Sponsor, Skyscanner (company, jobs) and we will be hosted again in the Bayes Centre.
Plan for the evening:
18:30: doors open
18:30 -> 19:00: chat / pizza
19:00 -> 20:00: talks + q/a
20:00 -> 20:30: tidy-up / head to nearby bar
