About Event

Software Improvement Group (SIG) is pleased to present a lunch-and-learn networking event and roundtable during New York Tech Week. Join us to enjoy complimentary beverages and tasty bites as you connect with others in the industry, build relationships, and learn how to manage your costly technical debt from leading experts, including Amazon, Carnegie Mellon, and NerdWallet.

Ever since Ward Cunningham introduced the term "technical debt" in 1992, the concept has expanded well beyond code quality issues. We'll explore how to bridge a gap between engineers and management to tackle the different forms of technical debt that now exist. We need better language and stronger business cases to address these issues and find new ways to mitigate them using international standards, AI, modern tools, and compliance frameworks.

We’re thrilled to be joined by our roundtable experts:

  • Vidya Thangirala, Amazon Web Services (AWS)

    • Principal Solutions Architect, Modernization

  • Hakan Erdogmus, Carnegie Mellon University

    • Teaching Professor and MS-SE Program Lead

  • Prithvi Rajasekaran, NerdWallet

    • Software Engineer & Chapter Lead of GenAI Collective NYC

  • Jasper Geurts, Software Improvement Group (SIG)

    • Managing Director of SIG Americas

Agenda:

11:30am-11:45am: Arrival & Refreshments

11:45am-12:45pm: Roundtable Discussion

12:45pm-2pm: Networking Lunch

About Us: Software Improvement Group (SIG), a leading technology solutions firm helping businesses around the world improve the quality and security of their software applications through its Sigrid® platform and embedded consultancy services.

SIG created software quality models built upon benchmarking methods in an ISO17025-certified laboratory. We assessed 18,000 enterprise systems and over 200 billion Lines of Code, which allows us to compare systems against thousands of peers for unparalleled accuracy. We also led the authoring of the ISO5338 for AI lifecycle management and made significant contributions to the OWASP AI exchange.
