Guest Presentation: Beyond Prompting - There is more to AI than ChatGPT
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Model (LLM) are tools that can help instructors and students during the learning journey. These tools can also provide biased, fake, incorrect information and hallucinations that sound quite believable. In today’s Tech Tuesday talk Dr. Larry Dribin will provide an overview of how these tools work. This knowledge should enable you to provide your students with a better understanding of the capabilities and limitations of these tools and hopefully inspire you to pursue new areas of research.
Dr. Larry Dribin has been an adjunct instructor in DePaul’s College of Computers & Digital Media (CDM) since 1981. He has taught courses in Data Analysis, Software Engineering, Measurement, Agile Development, and Cloud Computing. This past year, he has been researching Large Language Models. Spring 2024, he assisted Marco Chou, teach DePaul’s first course on Generative AI, IT390.
In addition to teaching at DePaul, Larry worked full time as a consultant where he has assisted clients implement new technologies, fix failing projects and implement a variety of regulations.
Larry holds a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Illinois Tech (IIT – Illinois Institute of Technology), an MBA in Marketing from Loyola University, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Illinois Tech.
