Talking to Stuff
Talking to Stuff: An evening of translating material into emotion through art and sound sessions.
Anything you do in your day can lead you to something else — it can stay with you, change you, but only if you let it.
Session 1 by Kairi Tokoro with Sam Murphy — Sound to Shape
The group will be equipped with drawing materials and asked to instantly react to Kairi's experimental soundscape and visualise it on paper. Here, listening is not a passive act, but one of resonance. The soundscape will be improvised and constantly shift in influence by the space and emotions of the evening, performer and listeners working together in a single act.
Session 2 by Franklin Collins — Material to Words
Between his sculptures, poetry, and video piece, Franklin asks for your honest interaction. In this session, we will introduce different materialities and ask the group to translate their feel into words of poetry or prose. What you do with the result, whether you want to pass it your left, read it to your group, or fold it to bring it home, is up to you.
Schedule:
7:00pm: Doors open
7:30pm: Session 1 by Kairi Tokoro with Sam Murphy
8:00pm: Break
8:30pm: Session 2 by Franklin Collins

It's often hard to talk about art. In this evening, there will be no art etiquette or rules, no boundaries between performer and participant, and no expectations. Come as you are — we can't wait to have you.
This event is produced by Lisja Tërshana.
