About Event

Please join Stanford Alumni in Climate Tech (ACTs), The Stanford Alumni Association (SAA), and The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability for our inaugural SF Climate Week Showcase, co-hosted with The Westly Group.

The event will provide Stanford climate tech alumni with the opportunity to network and hear a series of “lightning talks” about the latest initiatives across climate-focused institutes at Stanford.

Event Agenda:

About Sasankh Munukutla (TerraDot CPO & Co-Founder)

Sasankh Munukutla is a Co-Founder of Terradot,  a climate-tech startup with a mission to accelerate gigaton-scale carbon removal through Enhanced Rock Weathering. Sasankh is from Singapore, and grew up across the tropics experiencing firsthand the effects of climate change and its impact on sustainable development. He previously published  AI+Remote Sensing for Climate research in the Stanford ML group under Prof. Andrew Ng. He graduated from Stanford with a BS and MS in Computer Science (AI) while completing significant coursework in sustainability and cognitive science and received an SIF-Ecopreneurship Fellowship to build Terradot. His past work is at the intersection of technology and social impact across three domains: refugees, accessibility, and climate. He is a 776 Foundation Climate Fellow, served two years as a commander (Platoon Sergeant) in the Singapore military and has represented Singapore as a Youth Delegate at COP28.

About Dr. William Tarpeh (Tarpeh Research Group, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering) 

Dr. William Tarpeh is an assistant professor of chemical engineering at Stanford University. The Tarpeh Lab uses catalysis and separations to advance wastewater refining, which generates tunable portfolios of products from water pollutants and advances circular economies.  Will completed his B.S. in chemical engineering at Stanford, his M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering at UC Berkeley, and postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan. His recent awards include the NSF CAREER Award, Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award, Forbes 30 Under 30 Science, and the Electrochemical Society Young Investigator Fellowship.

About Richard Randall (Majumdar Research Group, PhD Candidate)

Richard Randall is a 5th-year PhD student in Prof. Arun Majumdar's lab in Mechanical Engineering. His thesis focuses on processes and devices to mitigate methane point sources and to remove methane from the atmosphere. He previously completed his BS and MS at Stanford with depths in design for manufacturing, mechatronics, and thermodynamics.
