About
"250 Meters of Happiness", India's First School Zone designed by children, is a unique project that embodies the principles of shared power and equity to enhance everyday safety and happiness for the community.
Co-created by a classroom of 9 year old(s) children in 2019 and implemented by Delhi Government in 2022. This 7000 sqm. public space has become a symbol of collective action and a catalyst bridging agency for young and youth, building healthy relationships, friendships, and optimism.
It is a lighthouse project for High Impact Project-Safer School Zone initiative by Transport Department, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi with TRIP Centre, IIT Delhi - HumanQind. The project serves four school communities, providing a safe environment to approximately 10000 students.
The project won the Global Honor for the Local Project Challenge to accelerate the SDGs at the UN World Forum 2020 and recently the FICCI Road Safety Award 2023.
