About Event

The steady offensive march of phones and algorithms into the realm of our attention continues. In response, more and more people are wondering whether the liberal arts hold the key to reclaiming our attention and...liberating us!

To some, this sounds like a gimmick. What use could the liberal arts possibly be? The thing that colleges teach when they teach "liberal arts" is weak and ineffectual at best. But STEM courses anchor people in real-life feedback loops and falsifiable propositions (the code compiles or it doesn't).

Well--is this true? How true is it? Is there another version of the liberal arts than the one most people get in college? What does it look like? What does it do?

Join the founders of Fractal, Andrew and Priya Rose, as they interview the founder of Maximum New York, Daniel Golliher, about all of this and more.

Daniel will be teaching a Foundations of the Liberal Arts class starting in September using the pedagogical approaches of his marquee government class, the Foundations of New York (and in response to the same broad failure of the university system in that realm too).
