About Event

Please join us on April 16th for the next instalment of our morning event series: "Coffee, Croissants, and Careers."

Our April breakfast session will shed light on what it's like to work on sustainable food systems and supply chains at an international nonprofit, with a focus on coffee and chocolate! Valerie Beard has kindly agreed to share her wisdom with us.

Whether you're searching for a new job, looking to build a stronger community, or simply looking for opportunities to expand your understanding of the DC area sustainable finance community, we hope you will join us at our "Coffee, Croissants, and Careers" chats, where we profile the incredible range of careers occupied by our WISE-DC members relating to investing in a sustainable economy.

Speaker Bio

Valerie Beard is a sustainability professional with a decade of experience strategizing resilient food systems. Devoted to sustainable landscapes, Valerie's current title is Senior Manager, Sustainable Coffee, at Conservation International (CI), an international non-profit that works to protect nature for human well-being. At CI, she leads sourcing-related conservation partnerships with coffee and cocoa companies, and advances the Sustainable Coffee Challenge, a multi-stakeholder initiative to make coffee the world’s first sustainable agricultural product. Valerie focuses on delivering science-based recommendations for corporate stakeholders to avoid ESG risks in their supply chains while protecting the natural ecosystems and communities where tropical agricultural products are grown. She helps companies in stating ambitious sustainability commitments (e.g., nature positive and deforestation-free), and is passionate about sustainability storytelling that proves impact.
