​Taming the Inner Critic

​NOTE: This is a TWO PART workshop. It will meet on Thursday May 23 and Thursday May 30.

​Perhaps our greatest obstacle to joy, peace and contentment is our pesky inner critic — the voice in our head whispering, or sometimes screaming, I don’t deserve this, that’s not good enough, I’m too weird, I need to work harder, I’m a fraud. Whether we like it or not, the inner critic is a part of us — there is no stopping or reasoning our way out of the inner critic’s abrasive and undermining narratives. But what we can do is practice acceptance — to face our critic, engage, and work skillfully with it. The first week of our workshop will be dedicated to practices that help recognize and gain distance from the inner critic. The second week will focus on responding skillfully, bringing forth compassion and self-love so our pesky critics don't covertly run the show.

​About Guillaume Caron

​Guillaume Caron’s greatest teachers are the challenges and wonders of his own life: balancing artistic aspirations with the necessity to make a living, striving for a healthy lifestyle in a massive urban center, and adapting to a non-native culture and language while remaining authentic. Guillaume started practicing meditation in 2014 at New York Insight where he was exposed to a vast array of teaching styles and ways of relating to Buddhism. While rooted in the Theravada/Insight lineage, Guillaume weaves vipassana practice with plant medicines modalities. Guillaume is a graduate of the Mindfulness Training Institute taught by Martin Aylward and Mark Coleman, serves as a Practice Leader in New York Insight and is the founder of Psychedelic Yogis.
