Paint & Sip with Laura Helene Sebastian

​The paint and sip experience of your dreams is coming to Envelope on May 25th for a Sunday Brunch Special. Come solo or with some pals to learn how to paint your favorite landscape or object with local artist Laura Helene Sebastian. 

​Join us as Laura demonstrates her impressionistic painting technique to help you depict a landscape or still life of your choice. Refreshments will be served to offer an extra bit of creative juice. At the end of class, head home with a buzz-worthy painting to show off to all your friends. Supplies will be provided, just bring your favorite landscape photo or objects and come ready to let loose and paint!

​About the artist: Laura Helene Sebastian is a self-taught painter based in Richmond, VA. Using a post-impressionist style, Helene Sebastian captures the conversation between our man-made and natural environments, and the resulting products of both. For instance, by pairing the neon glow of a gas station with a giant cloud engulfing the sky in one painting, then attaching another panel with a personal poem below it, Helene Sebastian asks us to consider all of these elements at once. To find the beauty in each element and to ask us to refrain from placing them in a hierarchy. In her own unique, tongue-in-cheek way, Helene Sebastian imparts a Taoist perspective to her work, a Doritos bag is not "worse" or "better" than a sunset. It simply is.
