Introduction to Relationship-first Design [public]
In a society that rewards individualism, prioritizing relationships is a radical act. Join us for a workshop where we’ll do exactly that. Over the course of 90 minutes, we’ll define and explore relationship-first design then put it into action in our own lives. We’ll have the time and space to ask questions like:
How can we design more places where you couldn’t help but make a new friend?
How would San Francisco look if every company made it part of their business model to care for people and planet?
What would technology look like if we prioritized building relationships with each other and the outdoors?
WHAT TO EXPECT
In this 90-minute workshop, we’ll:
Introduce Systems for People* - Learn what we mean by "Systems for People*” and how we’re building a community around it.
Explore relationship-first design - Learn what relationship-first design is, what it looks like, and how you can bring this design approach to more parts of your life.
Apply relationship-first design to your own context - You’ll choose the context you want to design, such as your workplace, home, club, school, event, etc. Then we’ll have guided exercises to:
Identify key relationships
Find opportunities within your system
Design small experiments for meaningful change
