Lego can create a lot of things–including letterpress prints! Using different shapes and sizes of Lego pieces, you can create a relief print from any design you can imagine and build on a base, and even layer shapes and patterns for bold, fun, and unexpected results.
Join us for a day of creative play and experimentation–grown-ups welcome! You’ll be able to use Lego to create and print your own concepts as well as make a quick folded collaborative book with the class, leaving with lots of unique cards and a portfolio of everyone’s creations.
No prior experience is necessary and all materials included. Appropriate for ages 14 and up. Sonia will prepare the materials ready for you to assemble and use her teaching experiences accumulated for over a decade to make accessible the materials, tools, and techniques you'll use to bring everything together into a set of fun and quirky prints plus a class portfolio.
Here’s a breakdown of the day:
10am-11am
Introduction to materials and process, and letterpress printing demonstration.
11am-1pm:
Open play, print, and experiment time on individual blocks
1pm-1:30pm: break for lunch
While lunch is not included, we have a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and kettle for your convenience, as well as nearby food options
1:30pm-3pm
Layering designs and prints using a different color on the press
3pm-4pm
Printing collaborative book, clean up
Things to Know
This full-day workshop costs $150.00 per person and includes all materials. When you register here, you’ll receive an email with payment instructions. Direct deposit, card payment, PayPal, or Zelle all accepted, as well as cash paid ahead of the workshop date at our location (open to the public Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays).
