Open Studio | Threefold Architects
An architecture portfolio is a snapshot of an applicant’s best work.
Yet in a stack of hundreds, it can be difficult to stand out and get noticed. For this month’s Open Studio we are partnering with Threefold Architects by inviting 12 architecture students and graduates for a chance to gain feedback and hear from industry professionals on best portfolio practices.
In this workshop, Threefold Architects will give a short introduction to their practice, hiring processes before we split into small groups for tailored feedback on sample portfolios and CVs.
Founding Directors Renée Searle, Jack Hosea, and Matthew Driscoll established Threefold in 2004 with the ambition of creating thoughtful, contemporary architecture that is carefully composed, meticulously detailed, and uplifting to experience and inhabit.
Over the past 20 years, the practice has designed a diverse range of unique, highly successful, internationally published, and award-winning buildings and spaces. These span the workplace, housing, retail, hospitality, arts, medical, and civic sectors, across a variety of scales — from single units to projects of up to £25 million.
Threefold is particularly recognised for its innovative retrofit schemes, which breathe new life into existing and Listed buildings for clients such as The Crown Estate. The practice is equally known for inventive affordable housing schemes for Pocket Living, as well as beautifully crafted individual family homes.
A unifying thread throughout their work is a desire to enhance the way people live and work — to create spaces that bring people together, build communities, and promote health, happiness, and inspiration.
About Open Studio
Open Studio is a collaborative workshop series by :scale, designed for architecture students wanting to invest in their personal development, learn creative skills and access mentoring. We aim to connect graduates with practices across London to gain an insight into the professional industry.
