MMC Ventures: Ethical AI event
ChatGPT and other popular LLMs were built using massive quantities of data... but this often involved copyrighted data that was web-scraped against the wishes of content creators and data rights holders.
So they're coming up with all kinds of defences, from anti-scraping tech to data poisoning tools just to stop AI companies from using their data. The amount of training data available to scrape is shrinking - 28%+ of the most actively maintained and important sources in the C4 Dataset are now fully restricted from use for AI training. Also, copyright infringement lawsuits are flying thick and fast.
So how is an AI startup to build out a great business where they are able to access large quantities of data that is ethically sourced?
How do you make sure the needs of content creators, data rights holders and AI developers are met?
We explore all this and more in our research report to be published at our Ethical AI event, where we're also hosting a panel discussion to reflect the views of the different stakeholders. There's also plenty of time for networking and meeting other members of the Ethical AI ecosystem over drinks and nibbles.
At our event, we're bringing together:
- Ethical AI startups (who are addressing a variety of problems across attribution, fair compensation, licensing, discoverability of media assets and prevention of unauthorised scraping of media content)
- Media houses (particularly practitioners within the content licensing space)
- AI startups
- IP lawyers, content creators and others in the Ethical AI ecosystem.
Agenda:
6:00pm - 6:30pm: Doors open and networking
6:30pm - 7:15pm: Research presentation and panel discussion
7:15pm - 8:30pm: More networking!
