Join us at the Gaming Hub for a presentation on the legal side of the use of Generative AI in games, followed by a Q&A session with Nicole Fortunato and Joana Maria Andion from the Law firm Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados and Damian Bethke former General Counsel at Fortis Games and legal advisor to video game companies.

Main Topics

1. What is the business risk if we don’t get AI right? What are the main issues we need to consider when using AI from an IP, commercial and privacy perspective?

  • Copyright ownership of AI generated content

  • Issues related to the inability to delete data from model

  • Rights to use the data to train model

2. How to create a AI governance framework? What are the policies and procedures companies should implement?

3. High level overview of the regulatory framework and enforcement. What is the risk companies may face in case of non-compliance?

Gaming main use cases

Art: Fast generation of high volume of art assets to test game progression mechanic during game launch. This is probably the most important and relevant for most game companies.

Game Design: Large Language Model ("LLM") -- evaluation of internal implementation of fine-tuned LLM to aid game design and design and development. This is probably geared towards more mature game companies as compared to a very early game start up.

Coding: Github Copilot -- generated code integrated in game code, internal prototyping, internal tools, internal testing of plugins/extensions for logging of AI generated code. Relevant to all game companies.
