About Event

In celebration of Africa Day, AfroFuture is curating an intimate evening of storytelling through the lens of film, memory, and imagination. Taking place on Friday, May 23rd at The Deia in Brooklyn, this community gathering will feature a curated selection of short films centered on Africa’s cultural legacy, present-day influence, and imagined futures.

Titled The Art of Storytelling: Through Futurism + Nostalgia, the event explores how filmmakers across the diaspora use cinema to archive, reclaim, and reimagine African identity. Following the screening, we’ll host a fireside chat and audience dialogue unpacking the themes of belonging, innovation, and cultural memory.

Join us for an evening of art, connection, and cultural celebration—complete with Ghanaian small bites from Accra Restaurant, sparkling refreshments by Topo Chico, and pours from our partners at the Ofori Brothers. Payment and merchandise support will be powered by Square.
