The Wabi-Sabi-Thon
Feb 4. We're hosting an in-person, pudding-filled designathon, and you're invited! Come and win pudding + other snacks 🍟🍪
Tracks range from art (digital or physical) and videography, to photography and product design. ✨ No previous experience necessary✨ 💅
Wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a Japanese aesthetic centered around finding beauty in both the impermanent and imperfect. To the contrary, hackathons are often pitch-filled and stress inducing. Their prizes are also usually not edible.
We're on a mission to challenge the current prevailing idea of the hackathon. We’ve designed tracks like "Ugliest UI" and "Most Rizz" while creating bonding activities that invite beginners and experts to polish their prototyping and idea of delight. We want to bring community members together in a cozy-environment; creating in the true spirit of wabi-sabi.
You may enter as many tracks as you'd like- individually or in a team. Teams are capped at 3 people.
Event generously sponsored by Accoa Labs, Waterloo Women's Impact Network, and Waterloo Women In Computer Science. Let's raise the bar for craft together.
On the day of the event, please bring your own devices and supplies- they will not be provided (ie. a camera for photography, computers for design, an iPad for drawing, etc).
