NP Frees DETAINED in Texas: Dallas
Texas is showing up! After great events in San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and El Paso, we culminate The Texas Tour for the release of the book DETAINED in Dallas.
Nuestra Palabra and the Librotraficantes are proud to organize the Texas book for the powerful memoir DETAINED by D. Esperanza and Gerardo Ivan Morales. During the first Trump Administration, D. Esperanza was only a teenager when he was detained at the Immigration Detention Center in Tornillo, Texas, just outside of El Paso. He snuck in a notebook to tell his story. This May, that story becomes the book DETAINED with co-writer Gerardo Iván Morales.
Everyone who purchases a copy of DETAINED at the book release party will be entered to win one a pair of tickets to the Texas Monthly Taco Fest Sat. May 31 in Grand Prairie, Texas, Epic Central, Saturday, May 31, 2025.
DETAINED is a powerful work that tells the unvarnished truth about the plight of many community members. In this political climate where some families are pushed into the shadows, we must stand up for them, for freedom of speech, for intellectual freedom, for human rights. We must inspire everyone to tell their story.
