Day Trip | Collioure (South of France)
Located at the southern tip of Languedoc-Roussillon (France), Collioure was first mentioned in the year 673, when the Visigoth king Wamba named it Caucoliberis.
For many centuries, it was a strategic and highly contested site, at times belonging to the Kingdom of Aragon and later to France. It was known as “Northern Catalonia.”
Today, Collioure has a population of around 3,000 people and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in southern France. Its narrow streets, old fishing quarter, rich seafood cuisine, artistic tradition, and historical heritage all make it well worth a visit.
