Kick-off Climate Week: Live Music and Dance Party for Climate Action

Featured Artists: Bicicletas por La Paz and EleNAH

Speakers: Climate Changemakers and Music Declares Emergency

This event is a musical celebration to help kick-off SF Climate Week with a lively dance party. We’ll also have a short discussion of how music and art can be a force multiplier for reversing climate change. The event will feature two of the SF Bay Area’s beloved bands: Bicicletas por La Paz and EleNAH!

Let the power of music and dance inspire your SF Climate Week. These bands feature  infectious grooves of reggae and rocksteady, champeta, cumbia, salsa, with thick harmonies and hip-hop drive to keep you moving.

In addition to celebrating the climate work and commitment of attendees through the music of the featured artists, we will also address the unique role that music, artists, climate professionals, and environmentally-concerned music fans can play in catalyzing climate action. We will explore the potential for artists, in partnership with climate scientists and professionals, to accelerate the citizen engagement needed for decisive climate policies at the local, state, federal, and international levels.

Speakers include Dr. Eliza Nemser, Executive Director, Climate Changemakers and, Mike Rufo, Music Declares Emergency (US) board member, songwriter, and energy-climate policy consultant.

EleNAH is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of their highly anticipated new album, a vibrant exploration of original material that seamlessly fuses the rich rhythmic of South America, the Caribbean, and African influences with the infectious grooves of reggae and rocksteady, champeta, cumbia, salsa. This album is a heartfelt journey into the power of living in the moment, celebrating the beauty of simplicity, and embracing the lessons of love—especially self-love. With each track, EleNA invites listeners to let go of their fears, cherish the present, and discover the profound joy that comes from learning and growing. Prepare to be captivated by the unique soundscape that EleNA has crafted, as he boldly steps into a new musical chapter that promises to inspire and uplift. After the historic 2017 Northern California wildfires, Eliza pivoted from her career as a Geoscientist to focus on environmental advocacy. Climate Changemakers originated as an extension of Eliza’s organizing and environmental advocacy work, conducted independently and as a consultant with the NRDC Action Fund. Eliza completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Earthquake Engineering and Seismology at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal. She earned a PhD and MS in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of Washington, Seattle.
