About Event

Salsa Wednesdays are back and at The Range on the Ithaca Commons. Proof of vaccination is required, mask is optional. Our welcome back event on August 25th features dance classes, performance, and party, with special guests Claridancer and Alexander La Rosa from Santiago de Cuba (bios below), and Resident DJ Instructor Michael Luis.

SCHEDULE
8-8:30PM Salsa en Rueda de Casino​
Learn Salsa through Rueda de Casino repertoire and call-and-reponse.

8:45-9:15PM Cuban Fusion​
Cuban and Latin club dance with Caribbean movement.

9:30PM Intro to Salsa & Latin Dance​
Learn the basics of Salsa, Bachata, and more. New content every week.
​Lessons followed by open dance.

10PM-1AM Dance Party​
Dance to the hottest releases of Salsa-Son-Timba, Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha, Cumbia, Reggaeton y más… ¡más Salsa! with DJ Michael Luis and guests. Requests accepted.

GUEST ARTISTS
​Alexander La Rosa Perez is an artist and professional dancer and choreographer raised in Cuba. At an early age he studied at the National School of Arts and has since traveled with different professional companies and schools in the capacity as teacher, primer bailarín (lead dancer), and choreographer, including with Danza del Caribe, Folklórico de Oriente, Ballet Santiago, and Sabor DKY, among others. In 2012 he began travel to the USA to work with the Alvin Ailey school, BAM Festival, Cumbe Center for African and Diaspora Dance, CTMD, and Oyu Oro Afro Cuban Dance Ensemble, becoming a top dance teacher in New York City due to his knowledge in a variety of genres.

Claridancer is a performer and teacher of traditional and contemporary Cuban Popular Dances, born in Santiago de Cuba. From the age of 19 she began to travel the world attending various festivals and events, giving classes and workshops and doing shows as part of the Professional Company SaborDKY (pronounced Sabor De Calle, translated as Flavor of The Street). 3 years ago she became an independent artist and today, in addition to teaching dance, she is a creator of digital content and director of a dance event in her city called “Timba con Tó” (Timba with Everything), created to preserve the value of Cuban Popular Dance and to promote them among younger generations.
