Being Present for a Neighbor on the Streets (Flamekeeper Series #3) [public]

​Discovering our common humanity and showing up with presence

​This is Session #3 of 4 in the Flamekeeper Series.

​Each time we see a neighbor living on the streets, confusing questions and feelings might arise about our role and relationship to those with whom we share our city. We’ll explore:

• ​How might I honor humanity even through feelings of discomfort, fear, confusion, shame, or even disgust?

• ​What might I do with the feeling to “look away” when paying attention seems futile or draining?

• ​How might I bring human presence without superiority or saviorism?

​Both the Faithful Fools and the San Francisco Night Ministry have a long, established presence lifting up the humanity of our neighbors on the streets in our city. Join us to explore our questions together.

​The session will be moderated by Seanan Fong, Founding Director of the SF Contemplarium.

​We will have a lively fireside chat in the first hour, followed by an interactive skill-building workshop in the second hour.

​​We'll meet in 550 Laguna (the corner of Hayes & Laguna). Once you arrive, go down the stairs to the basement level to enter space, check in, and please take your shoes off at the door.
