Being Present for a Neighbor on the Streets (Flamekeeper Series #3) [public]
Discovering our common humanity and showing up with presence
This is Session #3 of 4 in the Flamekeeper Series.
Each time we see a neighbor living on the streets, confusing questions and feelings might arise about our role and relationship to those with whom we share our city. We’ll explore:
How might I honor humanity even through feelings of discomfort, fear, confusion, shame, or even disgust?
What might I do with the feeling to “look away” when paying attention seems futile or draining?
How might I bring human presence without superiority or saviorism?
Both the Faithful Fools and the San Francisco Night Ministry have a long, established presence lifting up the humanity of our neighbors on the streets in our city. Join us to explore our questions together.
Carmen Barsody is the Co-Founder of the Faithful Fools. Bio coming soon.
Lyle Beckman is the Night Minister Emeritus at the San Francisco Night Ministry. Bio coming soon.
The session will be moderated by Seanan Fong, Founding Director of the SF Contemplarium.
We will have a lively fireside chat in the first hour, followed by an interactive skill-building workshop in the second hour.
