About Event

Join us for an afternoon of environmental stewardship and community action at the Sandy Beach Restoration Project on June 1st, 2024, from 3 to 5 pm, hosted by the Parley Air Station and friends! Eco Rotary Club of Kaka'ako is collaborating with them and others to make this a big, fun volunteer event!

Partnering with Parley Air Station, we've taken a proactive stance against invasive species by clearing haole koa and invasive grasses from the Sandy Beach Dunes. This concerted effort has yielded remarkable results - for the first time in decades, sea turtles have returned to lay their eggs at Sandy Beach, marking a significant milestone for local conservation efforts.

The funds generated through our collective efforts at the Christmas Party have played a pivotal role in making this restoration project possible and in January we planted the trees we bought and now we will be helping maintain the area.

All parties must register with Parley AIR Station as well:

Activities for the day will include:

  • Dune restoration, native planting and invasive species removal

  • Beach cleanup to maintain the pristine environment

  • Educational sessions on the importance of native species preservation

  • Opportunity to learn about sea turtle conservation efforts

This event isn't just about restoring a beach; it's about revitalizing a habitat, safeguarding endangered species, and fostering community engagement in environmental conservation.

All are welcome to participate, whether you're an Eco Rotary member, a Parley supporter, or a passionate individual eager to make a difference. Bring your enthusiasm, gloves, and a strong commitment to our natural world!

Let's come together to ensure Sandy Beach thrives for generations to come.
