As we conclude the weekly Sunday Bree Street Experiment, we still get the reply or feedback: but why Bree?
Bree Street, recently ranked the 11th "coolest" street globally by Time Out magazine, should definitely be the last street to bring urgent transformation to promote road safety, justice and climate friendliness—out of the plethora of other streets across the City of Cape Town.
But that is exactly it—it is rather the ideal street to find precedent to scale to other areas. This Sunday, come and learn how we managed to do an informal, temporary road closure to test a simple idea: what will be the effect of closing down two streets in the heart of our CBD?
Further, we will share insight on our upcoming plans which will further make you go again: but why Bree!?
This is an informal walkabout by the Active Mobility Forum, a programme by Young Urbanists and the Bicycle Mayor of Cape Town. There might be some surprise guests as we traverse the car-free Bree, starting at Rosetta—as we’ll need a lot of coffee to answer: but why Bree?!
