About Event

In African markets, owning a piece of a successful company is like owning a ticket to future wealth.

But many people miss out because they don't have access to ownership opportunities.

How can we change this narrative and make it easier to build more ownership?

How can we reimagine ownership and liquidity for emerging economies?

How can we enable more African stakeholders to own a part of the innovation on the continent?

We’ve teamed up with Raise to answer these questions.

In a conversation with Henry Ward, CEO of Carta & Marvin Coleby, CEO of Raise, moderated by Caleb Maru, founder of Tech Safari, we will discuss the intricacies of equity ownership and liquidity, the challenges and opportunities of liquidity in Africa, and why IPOs, secondaries, and mergers/acquisitions may or may not work here.

Carta, a major player in the equity management space, has raised over $1 billion in funding and is valued at $7.4 billion. They are well-established in markets worldwide and have been a vital investor and supporter of Raise.

We'll share lessons from Carta, the American stock market, and other global markets. We'll also discuss what it looks like when liquidity catalyzes growth, creating a flywheel effect where angels get liquidity, founders become LPs, and startups grow.

This webinar is on the 30th of May at 3.30 PM GMT.
