About Event

"Songs help us time travel. They have the power to transport us back to the exact sights, smells and emotions of a memory"

Playlist Storytellers is a live storytelling show based in Toronto. It’s a night where personal stories meet the songs that inspired them. Four curated storytellers share real stories from their life that involve a song, and then the song is played for the audience to help them relive the story.

Four storytellers. Four stories. Four songs.

"It doesn’t matter what a song is about, what matters is what it means to us. We never forget the songs that made us feel something"

Michael Louis Johnson

A performer in Toronto since 1990, when not touring the globe playing flugelhorn  w/ Lemon Bucket Orkestra, MLJ is a notorious busker and bartender. He hosts a popular democratic vinyl night, Dcide on the Bside; fronts the 13-piece improv brassband Rambunctious, and smaller cabaret quintet, Little Rambunctious. His quintet Red Rhythm has held a jazz residency at the Communist's Daughter since 2003.

Max Farber

Max Farber (aka @Farbsy), is a Content Creator who says what we’re all thinking at work—but never actually say out loud because, y’know, rent and stuff. His videos hilariously capture the chaos of customer service, office politics, and everything in between. When he’s not pretending to quit his job on camera, he’s writing comedic songs that are equal parts clever and unhinged. Basically, he’s turning 9-5 misery into comedy gold—one workday at a time.

Moira LePage

Moira LePage is a Collingwood-born, Toronto-living communications and copywriting professional. She moonlights as a comedian, though she’s currently on a break from the comedy stage (and swears she’s getting back up there soon). Moira has performed at Comedy Bar, Absolute Comedy, Yuk Yuk’s, FanExpo, and other venues across the city. She has also survived and won multiple rounds of Roast Battle Toronto, which means she's good at telling stories and talking back. This is her softer side. Promise.

Shaiyan Khan

Shaiyan has made a career out of helping independent brands punch above their weight class— first as an early employee at Shopify Plus, and most recently as one of the first ten hires at Substack. Over the last decade he has been lucky to have a front row seat in watching the shift of power from institutions to individuals, and can't wait to see how media evolves from here. He's a writer but mostly avoids it by training Jiu Jitsu, blundering pieces in Chess, or engagement baiting on Twitter.
