About Event

Summer is a beautiful time to be present and embrace the Sun’s bold, bright, and fiery energy. Yet, it's also an opportunity to balance light and expansion with stillness and ease.

Breathe into Summer with KOKORO and a special yin yoga + journaling journey taught by Nita Diaz from Nita's Coloring Book! Join us as we slow down our nervous systems, release tension, clear stuck energy, and offer ourselves the restoration and reflection needed for the season ahead.

The Summer solstice reminds us to celebrate:

  • The nourishing light of the Sun ☀️

  • The vitality and abundance within each of us ✨

  • Our connection to nature's rhythms 🌿

During the Summer solstice, the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky and gives us our longest day of the year. It's a powerful day to step into your light, acknowledge how you are blooming, and set intentions.

🛣️ Your Journey Awaits 🛣️

We will take you on a transformative journey uniting breath, movement, and introspection. 

This sacred 75-minute practice combines:

  • Breathwork 💨: Guided techniques to calm the nervous system and expand awareness

  • Yin Yoga 🌙: Passive floor-based postures focused on the summer meridians, held for 2-5 minutes to nurture the deep connective tissues

  • Journaling ✍️: Reflective prompts to balance the season's themes of joy, abundance, and action with softness, presence, and stillness

  • Meditation 🧠: A closing practice to integrate the experience

✅ What You'll Need ✅ 

  • A quiet space where you can be undisturbed

  • Comfortable clothing

  • Yoga mat

  • Journal and pen

  • Props: yoga blocks (or books you can stack), bolster, cushions, blanket

  • Cozy items are also encouraged! Bring your comfy socks, eye pillow, or a cup of tea

♿ Accessibility Notes ♿

This practice is accessible to all bodies and experience levels. We'll provide variations and prop suggestions throughout to make the poses accessible.

Listen to your body. If any posture doesn't feel right, you can always modify or skip it. If you are pregnant, please be mindful not to go as deep and avoid long holds.
