About Event

Fellowships, accelerators, scholarships—opportunities are everywhere. But how do you actually get selected?

In this practical session, Milena Kirillova from Watson Institute will share what makes an application rise to the top. As a Senior Search Manager, Milena has reviewed thousands of applications from entrepreneurs and changemakers around the world, working with partners like Google, BMO, Ford Philanthropy, and the Truist Foundation.

You’ll learn:

  • What selection committees look for (and what gets ignored)

  • How to clearly communicate your story, mission, and impact

  • Common mistakes—and how to avoid them

  • Real tips from behind the scenes of recruitment processes

You’ll leave with tools to refine your positioning, avoid the usual traps, and strengthen your next application—whether you're applying to fellowships, accelerators, or other funding and leadership programs.
