NO on K Rally : Portsmouth Square
Imagine if Valencia Street, the Embarcadero, or Haight Street were permanently closed to private and commercial vehicles. How would businesses survive? How would families cope?
Now, think about the West Side’s vital roadway: the Great Highway. Since 1929, it’s connected Richmond and Sunset to Daly City and the Golden Gate Bridge—crucial for thousands of daily commuters. But this November, Proposition K threatens to close the Great Highway to private and commercial vehicles permanently. This will disrupt a balanced solution that benefits 20,000 daily drivers and weekend visitors. It’s a lifeline for middle- and working-class families who rely on it. If closed, traffic will spill onto local streets, causing severe congestion and delays on 19th Ave and Sunset Blvd, making commuting and daily life harder for everyone.
If Prop K passes, it could set a precedent for closing other key roads across the city. We must act to protect our neighborhoods from short-sighted decisions that harm residents and disrupt our city’s connectivity.
Join us on Saturday, October 12 (10AM - 12PM) for a rally to stop the closure of the Great Highway and oppose Proposition K. Hundreds of neighbors from across SF are already standing up to make their voices heard.
Defeating Proposition K is crucial to keeping the West Side accessible for everyone. Together, we can make a real difference.
