

Impact Day – Ideas to Real life Projects
Event Overview
Impact Day is the flagship event of Ideas to Impact 2.0, a venture-building and innovation showcase by Tokyo International University. After weeks of ideation, design, prototyping, and mentoring, student teams will present their startup concepts and social innovation projects before a live audience of investors, ecosystem builders, and global changemakers.
This event highlights the power of student-driven entrepreneurship and provides a collaborative platform for pitching, mentorship, knowledge exchange, and professional networking.
Program Highlights
1. Student Startup Pitch Competition
Twelve international student teams from the Ideas to Impact 2.0 cohort will deliver five-minute pitches followed by live feedback from a panel of judges representing academia, venture capital, and the startup ecosystem. Projects span sectors including education, sustainability, digital inclusion, well-being, and youth empowerment.
2. Talk Sessions by Professors and Founders
Two expert-led sessions will explore the journey from campus to company, featuring insights from experienced academics and real student entrepreneurs:
Talk Session 1: How to Start a Business as a Student
A keynote presentation by Professor Parag Kulkarni or Professor Omid Asgari, covering early-stage validation, resource leveraging, time management, and long-term planning.Talk Session 2: Student-Led Startups That Secured Funding
A moderated panel of founders who started their ventures in university and successfully raised funding. Discussion will focus on startup resilience, fundraising strategies, and navigating both academic and entrepreneurial paths.
3. Interactive Workshop by Industry Leaders
This practical, hands-on session will be led by invited professionals and innovation experts. Participants will explore rapid ideation, user-centric validation, and basic startup development strategies. Designed for students who want to take their first steps toward entrepreneurship or apply innovation skills to real-world challenges.
4. Networking and Internship Opportunities
The day concludes with a dynamic networking session designed to foster collaboration and professional growth. Designated spaces will include:
Investor Corner – One-on-one conversations with angel investors and early-stage funders
Talent Match Table – Startup teams seeking teammates, designers, marketers, and collaborators
Project Demo Zone – Interactive displays of select student innovations
Internship Opportunity Desk – Several participating startups and corporate partners will offer internship placements in areas such as product development, marketing, content creation, research, and innovation. On-the-spot discussions and applications will be facilitated.
