​The ocean knows no borders, and neither should our efforts to protect it. Join us for this high-level panel, "Breaking Borders to Save the Ocean: Advancing Transnational Cooperation to Protect Biodiversity Hotspots,". It will bring together key experts, leading marine conservationists, and ocean advocates to address the urgent need for collaborative, transnational action in safeguarding marine biodiversity. A special attention is given to the biodiversity hotspot of the Macaronesia region, which spans across continents. Despite it being an extremely important region, it is rarely talked about. Also during this UNOC, there are almost no events regarding Macaronesia.

​Through expert insights and dynamic discussions, this session will explore how transnational cooperation, innovative conservation strategies, and scientific research can deliver tangible solutions for marine biodiversity protection. This interactive panel is an opportunity to reinforce the importance of global unity in protecting our ocean’s most vulnerable ecosystems. 🪸
