UX Tea Service: Kondo, Part 2 - Naming and Organizing
Let's Marie Kondo our Figma files!
This is a three-part UX Tea Service (yet another new name for UX Tea Times that are workshops). This invitation is for Part 2 - Naming and Organizing.
Kondo Series: Information
The joke is that Marie Kondo is all about organization and throwing things out that we don't need if they don't spark joy...and I want your Figma files to spark at least a sigh of relief that it's organized well.
Part 1 - Autolayout: A one-hour lesson on autolayout basics. It is recommended to join if you're in UXA and you haven't been using autolayout much. We'll cover things like:
Autolayout vs. groups vs. frames (and why it matters)
Hug vs. Fill vs. Fixed
Layering autolayout frames
Part 2 - Naming and Organizing: A one-hour lesson on getting into the habit of naming parts of your work as you go. We'll cover:
Shortcuts for naming things
Examples of how to organize your work
When is it appropriate to name things vs. keep it as Frame 234?
Part 3 - Try It Yourself: A one-hour workshop that would be most helpful if you attended Parts 1 and 2. I will NOT be covering these topics here. This will have a very limited number of people and I may run a few of these so we can work through:
Organizing + autolayout'ing several file types, which I will provide
You'll need to sign up for each of these individually!
Entry Requirements
This is one of the few times I will require donation up-front for entry; suggested donation is $5-8 per person. Recently, my mom was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer, and I am raising money to make sure I can either have prolonged visits or continuous visits up north.
Secondly, I did also spend a lot of time workshopping this information and making sure it's digestible. This is not part of Designlab. This is all just me trying to make a lesson plan that works for those who vibe with my style of teaching.
If you are still interested, please donate at paypal.me/robbin or Cashapp/Venmo me at @robbintwobees. If you need other methods or would like to help out another way, please reach out to me and I'll work with you.
