About Event

Step into an evening where philosophy meets art in a convivial cinema club. Join the journey of a disillusioned knight playing chess with Death against the backdrop of plague. This film stands as a meditation on the silence of God and the struggle to find meaning in a world shadowed by uncertainty.

Inspired by the tradition of Greek symposia, Reel Philosophers nights help sharpen critical thinking through themed screenings and discussions gently guided by professional philosophers.

17:30 Doors open.

18:00 Film screening – title to be revealed on the day, but here's a cue:

"I want knowledge. Not belief. Not supposition. But knowledge. I want God to reach out to me, unveil His face, speak to me."

20:00 Discussion facilitated by philosophers.

21:00 Social at the venue bar.

22:00 "It is finished." Officially so, yet conversations tend to wander through the streets and minds long after.

Film clubs co-produced by Reputy and Philosophy for All are part of the Human RenAIssance series of interdisciplinary events in Fleet Street Quarter, aiming to connect the business community and develop human intelligence.

The cosy cinema room accommodates up to 40 seated guests. Please arrive promptly to ensure your place.

We aim to keep our events free; however, we kindly invite guests to purchase drinks at the bar throughout the evening as a gesture of thanks to the venue for hosting us. If you wish to support our events, choose the Reel Supporter ticket – it includes a guaranteed seat at the table.

If you wish to become an event partner, contact Helen Rantsevitch.
