His 2023 novel, The Deluge, was a New York Times Notable Book. A sweeping, dystopian narrative focused on the far-reaching consequences of climate change. The novel has received compelling feedback as it highlights Markley’s skill at addressing critical global issues while maintaining a deeply human focus.
