Global Impact Education Happy Hour
Warm Welcome!
This joint networking happy hour, hosted by NaTakallam, Ambessa, and Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA), will bring together thought leaders, educators, and innovators. Our event will foster thoughtful discussion at the intersection of education and global impact, with a focus on communities that have the least access to essential resources. We'll also highlight impact solutions that serve diverse ages, promote holistic learning, and drive meaningful connections.
Attendance includes two free drink tickets, plus a raffle with exciting prizes! RSVP is required as space is limited, and we encourage you to share this invitation with anyone in your network who might be interested.
About Hosts
NaTakallam
NaTakallam (“We Speak” in Arabic) is an award-winning, social enterprise founded in 2015 by Aline Sara, that offers high-quality, curated language services delivered by refugees and conflict-affected communities through the digital economy. These services include translation and interpretation services, online language teaching and tutoring, as well as inspiring storytelling and cultural exchange sessions, both in academic and various organizational settings. NaTakallam provides its tutors and translators with the training and mentorship needed to perform the services, creating a pathway to sustainable income amidst conflict as well as during or after displacement and in the early stages of resettlement.
Ambessa
Ambessa is an educational social enterprise focusing on STEM hardware and software learning solutions for children globally. Founded by Sara Berkai, their first product is a kinetic DIY flashlight kit co-designed with displaced children out of school and education experts from Oxford University. For every one kit sold, one is donated to a refugee child out of school.
Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA)
Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA), founded in 2018 by educator Lamar Shambley, is a nonprofit that offers students of color global language learning and cultural exchange opportunities. Through programs like the Passport Pathways, TOCA Online, and their High School Study Abroad experience, the organization works to address racial disparities in language learning, study abroad, and cultural exchange. Since its inception, TOCA has impacted over 1,000 youths and provided upwards of $400,000 in scholarships toward global education experiences for students of color.
