New Year 2024: Bitcoin and Ethereum for Institutionals?

Will 2024 be a positive year for Bitcoin and Ethereum? Institutional investors are getting more and more interested as multiple ETFs (or similar products) potentially will be launching in 2024. Recent challenges in the crypto asset industry, such as FTX's bankruptcy and Binance's legal troubles, have raised concerns but also signal a maturing market. The EU's introduction of the "MiCAR" regulation aims to integrate crypto assets into mainstream finance with improved compliance and security.

The granting of a crypto custody license to German universal banks as well as the SEC’s future decision on a Bitcoin and Ether spot ETF marks another step towards institutional adoption. It will also be exciting to see what impact the Bitcoin Halving in spring 2024 will have on the market.

The anticipated mainstream acceptance of Bitcoin and Ethereum in 2024 represents a pivotal moment, merging the innovative aspects of cryptocurrencies with the established stability of the traditional financial system.

Join us for our next online panel discussion. We will focus on the following questions:

  • What impact will the approval of Bitcoin Spot ETFs have on the market? How high is the probability that these Spot ETFs will not be granted?

  • Will we see a price impact of the Bitcoin Halving in spring?

  • What specific strategies or products institutions are using to incorporate Bitcoin and Ethereum into their portfolios or services?

  • What regulatory challenges and hurdles do institutions face when considering the adoption of Bitcoin and Ethereum, and how are they navigating these issues?

  • Are there examples of traditional financial institutions successfully integrating Bitcoin and Ethereum with their investment strategies? What lessons can be learned from these cases?

  • Prof. Dr. Philipp Sandner, FS Blockchain Center (moderator)

  • Philippe Redaelli, Kaiko

  • Sven Hildebrandt, Börse Stuttgart Digital
