Sheep to Sweater by Macy Gilliam: An Exhibition for NYTM

​Do you know how your clothes were made? Like can you actually picture every step? Do you know what material they're made out of? What they're dyed with?

​I decided I wanted to know these things, so since May I've been going from sheep to sweater; taking raw wool and doing every step myself to turn it into a wearable (and hopefully cute) garment. Now I'll be showing off all of these steps in this exhibition with New York Textile Month!

​Drop by and see (and smell and touch) what it takes to process wool, spin yarn, and dye with natural dyes. I'll be doing live yarn spinning demos, showing different examples and functions of fibers, and obviously, wearing my sweater.
