Join us at Moon Creative Lab in Palo Alto for a Fireside Chat with Dr. Allan Conway, Clinical Associate Professor of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, UCSF and MarinHealth, who performed the first vascular surgical procedure for aneurysm repair using AI. He will share insights on how AI enables complex procedures to be done with greater precision and leads to better patient outcomes.

About Dr. Allan Conway

Dr. Allan M. Conway is a vascular surgeon and Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery, specializing in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at UCSF and MarinHealth. He cares for patients with complex abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms and specializes in complex limb salvage for patients with limb-threatening carotid artery or peripheral artery disease. He is also experienced in diagnosing and treating vascular malformations (blood vessel abnormalities). Conway is active in surgical education and research to improve patient care, and has led trials on the endovascular management of peripheral artery disease, as well as on using stent grafts to treat thoracic aortic aneurysms. He earned his medical degree from the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Manchester in England and was a surgical resident at St. George's Hospital, Guy's Hospital, and St. Thomas' Hospital in London. He completed a residency in vascular surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York where he also served as chief resident. Before coming to UCSF, he was a vascular surgeon and associate professor at Lenox Hill Hospital for 10 years, also serving as director of its vascular surgery residency program.

Conway is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of many professional organizations, including the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Society for Vascular Surgery, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society. He is on the editorial board of the Annals of Vascular Surgery and an assistant editor for the Journal of Endovascular Therapy. He has worked with the National Board of Medical Examiners, United States Medical Licensing Examination, and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. He has authored numerous scholarly and professional publications and book chapters, and presented his work both nationally and internationally. His philosophy for patient care centers on the development of a personalized treatment plan that focuses on the needs and goals of patients and their families. He believes in a compassionate approach that utilizes contemporary practice, with an evidence-based approach to the medical, endovascular, and surgical management of vascular disease.
