This five-week course dives deep into the foundations of designing with empathy and building with strategy, equipping you with essential tools to identify real-world challenges and craft innovative solutions.
Each week is hands-on, interactive, and guided by an expert-led framework to help you not only learn but practice core design skills. From understanding user needs to brainstorming, prototyping, and implementing, you’ll engage in dynamic exercises and receive feedback from peers and instructors to refine your approach.
Course Highlights:
Week 1: Introduction to HCD & BD – Build a foundation in Human-Centered and Business Design principles, and get familiar with setting clear, impactful challenges.
Week 2: The “Find” Phase – Dive into empathy-building, discover insights, and define the problem’s root causes.
Week 3: The “Frame” Phase – Refine your focus by reframing the challenge and developing customer personas and journey maps.
Week 4: The “Solve” Phase – Use creative ideation techniques to brainstorm, prototype, and test potential solutions.
Week 5: Presenting Solutions – Develop storytelling and pitching skills, receive final feedback, and create a roadmap for real-world implementation.
Activities include:
Improv warm-ups to boost creativity
Group exercises in empathy mapping, problem reframing, and ideation
Prototyping sessions with tools like Miro boards and storyboards
Final presentations with peer feedback to polish and prepare for launch
