Fantasía Espectral
Tommy Martinez's Performance
fantasía espectral is an improvised guitar performance created for the 24.2 channel loudspeaker array at reforesters laboratory. the work uses specially devised spectral synthesis techniques i've crafted over the past 15 years of programming research. these are forms of processing that uniquely disrupt the temporal and spatial boundaries of sound. in this performance, the effects are further augmented by 'collective behavior algorithms,' like flocking, to diffuse the distribution of energy across the speaker-space. the effect elicits a fervent cloud of sonic agents that vie for control of the sound-field upending the guitar as a singular 'voice.'
