About Event

Congratulations! By attending this event you've just been hired at Dream Game Incorporated, a storied and dubiously legal video game studio specializing in very quick turnaround from concept to release. Grab a pen and start doodling and watch in amazement as your art is IMMEDIATELY captured and brought to life inside of a videogame we'll be cobbling together through sheer force of imagination.

The steps:

  1. Draw your dream game character (we'll have plenty of art supplies to use)

  2. We capture your drawing.

  3. We program your drawing into a game.

  4. You get to play that game!

More info

This is a playful, family friendly event where participants doodle and draw based on silly prompts before having their art scanned and included as assets in a playable game prototype. The vibe is fun and collaborative, with volunteers pretending to be employees of a fictional games company that we’re all working at together!

There will be improvised musical accompaniment by Andrew Shenkman, of Hypergame Storytime. He'll be creating tracks on the spot to match the games that are made.

We also have pro-game artists on hand to chat and give advice to participants interested in that pathway as a career.

You can drop in anytime during the event - the game will evolve as more people add their art, and we'll be refreshing the game every hour!

Pay-What-You-Want
Tickets are not required to attend, but they help us anticipate numbers!

This event is part of Toronto Games Week, which has many events around the city from June 12-18th.
