βEdward, Zarinah & Eric are building a transdisciplinary science community in London. Drawing inspiration from historical epicentres of intellectual and cultural innovation (e.g., the Chelsea Hotel in New York, Bloomsbury Square in London, La Ruche in Paris, the Kaliflower and Cockette community spaces in San Francisco, etc.), and seeking to emulate the organic and immersive dynamism of university and corporate campuses for those who have finished their education and/or are nor working for giant companies, we propose to ignite a flourishing, active and coherent community of scientists and other thinkers and doers interested in transdisciplinary research in London. As a first step, we will aim to use several catalysing event series to create a βcoalbedβ for this communityβthe initial friendships, intellectual collaborations and social spaces that we can later fan and fuel to create bigger, more ambitions, and more complex outcomes.
βOver the next few months, we will be hosting a series of lectures on the future of science, meta-science socials, writing/hack-nights, and a few renegade/experimental events that we hope will blow your mind.
βJoin us this Tuesday at Newspeak House for our launch event!

β7.30pm: Talk from Dr Chris Dean: "Is everything we know about the ancient past wrong?" Insights into the future from a scientist who is revolutionizing our methods for understanding deep time.
Bio: Christopher Dean is a quantitative palaeobiologist and a Research Fellow in Palaeontology, UCL Earth Sciences who researches diversity patterns in deep time, with a particular interest in the spatial expression of fossil record biases and the impact that these have on our understanding of palaeoecology. Outside of palaeontology he is black belt in karate, has an extensive collection of band T-shirts, and is the proud father of two rabbits called Hank Williams and Mouse.
