Get a glimpse of two of Canada’s premier research facilities powering innovation in glycomics and metabolomics—GlycoNet and the Metabolomics Innovation Centre (TMIC). Pushing the boundaries of bioinnovation, GlycoNet and TMIC are the only CFI-MSI facilities in the province and are both based at the University of Alberta.
On this tour, you’ll see a few of the GlycoNet and TMIC labs and hear from researchers who are working with sugars and small molecules to develop new therapies, diagnostic tools, and sustainable technologies. Participants will learn about how GlycoNet, a pan-Canadian glycomics research network, is advancing glycomics, the study of sugars, to deliver solutions to global challenges in human, animal and environmental health. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the broadest collection of metabolomics equipment and instrumentation available in one place at Canada's national metabolomics facility. Learn how this diverse array of equipment and instrumentation is used in a wide range of applications such as biomarker discovery, biological studies, exposomics, clinical trial research, agriculture and environmental research.
