About Event

📍 Königliches Bergwaldhaus Dreiangelhütte, 1010m

First Application Deadline Passed (December 10th). We are now reviewing applications for the final spots on a rolling basis until December 24th.

Spend a weekend together with curious, kind and ambitious young people (roughly 18-30 yo) from the arts, sciences, tech and humanities in a cozy house in the beautiful Alps in winter.

We believe that bringing together artists, technologists, and thinkers from diverse fields can spark powerful collaborations. This weekend is a small step toward creating a stronger community of curious, bold minds.

This retreat is all about building meaningful connections. Think of it as chance to recharge, collaborate, and begin the new year with renewed energy and fresh perspectives.

What to Expect

This is a participant-driven retreat, with plenty of opportunities to:

  • Enjoy long walks in snowy nature

  • Share your passion projects during informal conversations

  • Cook, sing, sketch, and create together

We’ll provide a flexible framework for the weekend, but the experience is yours to shape. Here’s a flavour of the sessions we imagine:

  • Hosting a workshop or sharing insights from your field or craft

  • 5-minute lightning talks about fascinating rabbit holes

  • Crunching through deep snow on a forest walk

  • Singing by the fireplace

  • cooking Kaiserschmarrn together

There will also be time for you to relax, read, or reflect. Bring along your favorite books for a pop-up library or a musical instrument to share.

Who Should Apply?

Anyone enthusiastic, curious, and open to sharing your experiences with others. Self-starters and risk-takers.

You don’t need to be working on a specific project to join.

Please reach out for any questions :)

Our goals for the weekend

  • bring artists and technologists together

  • find more like minded people and help you grow a stronger community

  • meet talented people from other fields you might not have met otherwise

  • celebrate curiosity and creativity

  • have a great deal of fun and kick off 2025 in a memorable way

Logistical Details

Size: 10 - 20 people

The event starts on Friday, January 3rd at 15:00 o’clock, and ends Monday 6th at 12:00 o’clock. Due to the nature of the venue only full duration stays are recommended.

Price: Price ranges from €230 - €270 per person total, depending on whether we fill up the house. This includes per day: accommodation (~55€), food and drinks (~30€), and other communal purchases (~5€). If cost is a barrier for you, please apply anyway and make note of it in the additional comments section of the form, we might find a solution.

Location & Travel: The venue is located in Allgäu in southern Bavaria. We’ll take a 1.5 hr train from Munich central station around 12 o’clock to Immenstadt im Allgäu, then 20 min by bus/car to a forest and 1 hour walk to the house. Luggage will be transported by a snowmobile (yes!).

Although there is a lot of snow, there is no danger of avalanches.

We have a beautiful large living room “Stubn” with fireplaces, kitchen and furs on the seats. If you feel like you need some privacy or want to get some work done, the individual rooms offer cosy corners with a desk.

Accommodation: All beds are singles, and rooms generally are shared between 1-4 people. There'll be a group chat to help people coordinate on room arrangements in advance, and you’ll be able to be in a single-gender bedroom if that’s your preference.

The Team

Renaissance weekend is being organised by Adrian Cipriani and Hugo Berg.

Adrian: I'm an engineering science undergrad at TUM with a background in various arts. Increasingly getting excited about biophysics and deep tech ventures. I ran a creative community for music production during my youth, recently a 40+ ppl reunion for the good folks at https://www.fabric.camp and I’m passionate about fostering communities at the intersection of art, technology, and science.

Hugo: I am currently building a cybersecurity startup after graduating Maths & CS from Oxford 2023, where I did a mix of things—AI research (and separately AI safety), singing in choirs, running the Formula Student electronics team, and co-running the Swedish Astronomy Olympiad. I moved to Munich in September 2024 and have been learning German since.

The event will be held in English with local as well as international participants.
We consider every application.
