When Attack Strategies Backfire: How can progressives fight Reform UK on social media

Her research reveals that while progressives have adopted a confrontational approach, systematically attacking Reform's credibility and competence on key issues such as healthcare. Reform UK, meanwhile, has responded by positioning itself as a credible electoral threat.

​​The findings suggest an aggressive strategy may be backfiring. Despite sustained attacks aimed at discouraging Reform voters, the party continues to gain electoral ground. As Reform UK establishes itself as a significant fixture in British politics, this research argues that progressives must fundamentally rethink their approach to win back lost supporters.
