What is conversational learning?

This is simply where we learn by having a conversation. The benefit with this type of learning is that people learn naturally by asking questions that come to mind and having them answered by peers under the supervision of the facilitator or by the facilitator himself. For the most part, we won't be using slides because this is not a lecture! There will be occasional slides though and we will use a shared online whiteboard which you will have access to outside of the sessions. The whiteboard is used to convey points in real time where some concrete visualisation is needed!

Does this mean class size is limited?

Yes, very much so! It's not possible to have conversational learning in huge groups. We tend therefore to limit class size to small groups. Please register early as places will fill fast!

Who is the facilitator?

Dr Graham Tyler is a multi-award-winning registered psychologist who has been facilitating advanced psychometric test training courses globally since the late 1990s! He holds 2 Master's degrees, one in Occupational Psychology and another in Clinical Neuropsychology, as well as a PhD in Psychology.

Where do sessions take place?

In our immersive PsyAsia International Online Virtual World. We have a special room just for this intake. You'll be able to pop into the room whenever you like until the course completes and meet other learners to discuss the topics. In the room you will find the shared whiteboard and any files or resources mentioned during the sessions.

How will a typical session run and how might it be different from other classes I have attended?

Each session will cover a Module from Level 1 of our Psychometric Assessment at Work Course. Dr Tyler will ask questions related to the planned content such that a conversation between all moves forward with the intention of gradually covering all requirements of that Module. In addition to the conversation, there will be opportunity to practice new skills and to split into breakout groups where relevant. Sometimes one group will work on one topic question, whilst another works on something different, before re-joining the main group and sharing. Sessions are designed to be relaxed learning opportunities rather than intensive cramming sessions!

Will this style of learning work for me?

Yes if you like to learn at a conversational pace and enjoy interacting with others. You need to be comfortable sharing your experience or knowledge (or lack of either) with the group and not be shy to make mistakes in this safe learning environment. Mistakes here are a good thing because we all learn from them!

No if you prefer more intense learning or very structured learning, or if you prefer to work alone and are likely to be shy or not like contributing in group sessions such as this. In this case, you may like to explore our Independent Mode of Learning.

Do I get a certificate for the course?

Yes, you will receive a PDF certificate of attendance for the course by email if you attend each of the four sessions and pass our end of course quiz.

The course fee is really low - why?

We're trialling this style of learning. In the future we will either withdraw this, or continue with it and increase fees. Now is the best time to join because fees are the lowest they can be and you still get the learning you need to be an effective psychometric test administrator!

Does the fee include assessment for the BPS Level 1 Certification?

No. In fact, we are offering this course at a very special rate because we are trialling this mode of learning. The fee DOES cover all training required to be able to complete the assessments for BPS Level 1. It DOES NOT cover assessment for BPS Level 1, neither does it include any of our video learning or access to our Online Learning Centre - these are only available in our regular courses. However, see below!

Can I be assessed for BPS Level 1 Assistant Test User after completing the course?

Yes! You will need to complete a workbook, undertake a video recorded test admin session and a video recorded test scoring exercise. The fee for the assessment is US$128.

You simply need to let us know by the END OF THE FINAL SESSION that you wish to avail this option and then pay the new invoice within 7 days. Again, this is a special rate, only for those who sign up for this new Mode of learning. Our regular course fee with BPS Level 1 assessment is $690, whereas we are offering it for only US$256 in total!

What happens if I fail the assessments?

It's unlikely at this level of the course, but in case your work is not quite up to standard, you will be asked to undertake some additional work. There will be a special fee of US$49 for remarking of your workbook/practicals.

Are there any other fees for the BPS qualification?

Yes, to join the BPS Register of Qualifications in Test Use, everybody, no matter how they qualified, must pay a joining fee of £33 (£16.44 for students) and an annual fee of £51 to remain on the register.

Can I progress to Level 2 Ability and Level 2 Personality after successfully completing Level 1 Assistant Test User?

Absolutely! You may join our regular online psychometric courses and we will offer a special discount code. (Available only to those who opted for and passed the BPS Level 1 Assessment)

We have not yet decided if we will offer conversational learning for the subsequent levels - join this intake and help us decide if we should!

Are there any refunds?

Sorry, no. We are doing our best to make this training available at an exceptional fee. Booking a place means we are blocking it for you. Refunds would cost us in terms of place loss, event site fees and payment processing fees. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to send somebody else in your place.

*Prices assume you secure an early-bird ticket. Otherwise, the rates are still great at just $20 more!
