Stanford Baipu Chinese Music Ensemble

The Stanford Baipu Chinese Music Ensemble, founded by Stanford students and alumni, is an orchestra which practices and performs traditional and contemporary Chinese music. The name "Baipu" means "white and simple" in Chinese, describing our presentation of Chinese musical and artistic philosophy—"Emptiness and Effortlessness." Conducted and directed by Hui You from Stanford’s Music Department, the ensemble strives to promote cultural exchange and awareness about Chinese culture and works to expand artistic creativity at Stanford by introducing students and faculty to a unique style of music.
