About Event

Lightning Talks at the Commons is an evening of stories and presentations from the community in a quick 7-10 minute format. It's a chance to hear what people are working on or dreaming about - from authentic personal stories, hobbies, or that one weird thing you know a ton about and would love to share with the world.

If you're wondering if your idea is a candidate for a lightning talk... the answer is almost certainly yes! Examples of past ones that I've attended have included:

  • how to pick the best wines at a grocery store

  • how Americans lost their British accent

  • one person's journey to becoming a designer

  • how to understand Finnish meme culture

  • a live demonstration of how to shoot fireballs from a flaming whip

  • what we learn from airplane crashes

By registering for the event, you are registering to attend. If you'd like to speak, submit your talk here. Please submit your talk by April 10th.
