About Event

Cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs over the age of 10. And, sadly when our dogs get sick with cancer, their options are limited to outdated, expensive, and non-curative therapies.

This is because only a few drugs have ever been developed specifically for cancer in dogs. That’s why most current options are chemotherapies or expensive and invasive surgeries and radiation.

The good news? Scientists are now building new therapies for dogs that are both accessible and affordable for pets & their caregivers. These therapies utilize gene-editing technology called “CAR-T cell therapy”. It’s an FDA approved treatment already CURING human patients in the clinic today.

Curious about how it all works? Join Petminded on May 2nd to learn about this new technology, how it was developed, how it can help our dogs, and what’s next in the field of canine cancer.

Our Speaker is Wesley A. Wierson, Ph.D. who as a graduate student developed a gene-editing technology to bring CAR-T cell therapy to dogs. He has now founded LEAH Labs, a company dedicated to using human's best science to help human's best friend. On May 2nd, Wes will explain how this technology uses living immune cells to fight cancer so the treatments can both lengthen and improve our dog’s quality of life.

We hope you will join us to learn about this cutting edge technology that could save your pup’s life. This event is free as part of our National Pet Week series. Please share with any/all friends and family who could benefit.
