Who am I?
I'm Peter, senior software engineer at Shopify, founder of Rotaboxes, host of Makers gonna make meetup and occasional mentor at Codebar.
Why am I doing this?
I retrained myself as a software engineer some 8 years ago by attending an in person coding bootcamp (❤️ Codeclan). It changed my life for the better and taught me to never stop learning. The capabilities of AI tools have reached levels where anyone can use them to build amazing things and yet, there's some learning curve and general AI skepticism that makes it difficult for newcomers to start. My goal is to bridge that gap and empower people to build amazing things.

Why are we building a game and not a website or an app?
Websites and apps are simpler and less complex than a game. They are also a bit less fun, and when learning is fun, it's far more effective. To build a game, you need to break it down into small chunks that will eventually lead into a complex solution. This is the essential skill when working with AI successfully. You will be able to apply the same principles if you decide to build an app or a website later. Also, after the workshop you will have something cool in your portfolio that others can interact with.

This event will run from 9:30 to 13:00 on Saturday 26th of April in Codebase, Edinburgh.
